Family Literacy Coordinator

The family literacy coordinator furthers the mission of the Mayor?s Commission on Literacy (MCOL) by supporting delivery of quality education services through family literacy programs in Philadelphia. Day-to-day duties of this position include overseeing and providing leadership in the MCOL?s family literacy program funded by the PA Department of Education, ABLE Bureau, including supporting all partner agencies; ensuring adherence to state requirements implementing initiatives; monitoring program performance; recommending and providing professional development; monitoring the collection and reporting of program data; and coordinating the activities of the Family Literacy Assistant. The position requires participating in activities that promote the mission of the MCOL including keeping staff informed of project activities; reporting monthly on project progress for Director of Education; coordinating project activities with other agency activities; and participating in agency events and activities as appropriate.

Requirements include Master?s degree in education or related field, knowledge of the adult literacy community in Philadelphia, experience in overseeing the delivery of Keenan Model family literacy programs, and interest in working as part of an agency and citywide team. Applicants must be Philadelphia residents or be willing to move to Philadelphia after being hired.
