Mayor hosts “Free the River Park” screening
Free the River Park is a film that chronicles a Philadelphia neighborhood’s victorious efforts to create and preserve at grade access to the Schuylkill River Park despite adamant objections from CSX railroad. The 15 minute documentary serves to inspire and instruct other organizations on how to successfully wage grassroots organizing campaigns to improve and protect their own communities.
Mayor Michael Nutter and community activities will screen the film on Wednesday, December 17th from 5:30-7pm at the Mayor’s Reception Room on the second floor of Philadelphia City Hall.
The event will also feature the premiere of Know Your City Hall, a new short film starring Greta Greenberger.
Tickets are $25 for an individual or $50 for a ticket and a DVD of the film. A trailer for the film can be viewed here.
