MEE Productions will be broadcasting live its second in a series of community forums about preventing youth violence in Philadelphia. Sponsored by the Blueprint for a Safer Philadelphia initiative, this forum will focus on increasing community involvement to stop violence. MEE is excited to be able to continue the dialogue about making our city safer.

The Forum will be held from 6 to 9 pm and will be simulcast on WURD, 900 AM as part of the station’s “Power Friday” activities. It will feature some of the top minds in African American thought and culture.
Panelists scheduled to appear include:
Dr. Carl Bell,
Psychiatrist specializing in community mental health issues
Dr. Asa Hilliard, III,
Historian and Educator
Dr. Molefi Kete Asante,
African American Studies, Temple University Professor
Dr. Haki Madhubuti,
Poet, Author and Publisher
We will address questions such as:
How can we counteract the devastating effects violence is having in our community?
What are our youth seeing in the home that affects how they behave “out in the streets?”
How can we empower today’s youth to succeed, in spite of the challenges they face?
Is education still the key for providing a bright future?
What will inspire more community adults to become mentors to the new generation?
The forum will also give a cross-section of people like you a chance to weigh in with your perspective on the growing problem of violence in our city. It offers a unique opportunity for those who are on the frontlines in our neighborhoods to talk about how they are fighting what threatens to become an epidemic of violence. Be part of the thought-provoking discussion–be part of the solution!
