New Form 990: Public Relations Opportunity or Trap for the Unwary?

PANO, UWSEPA hold new 990 workshop
Because most charity Forms 990 are instantly available on the Internet, they can be a charity’s most important public relations document. They can also be traps for the unwary that lead to confusion, serious adverse publicity, and governmental sanctions.
The new Form 990 was officially approved by the IRS last week.
With support from United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations is inviting organizations to stay ahead of the curve and be prepared for those changes with a workshop called New Form 990: Public Relations Opportunity or Trap for the Unwary? The session will view the new Form 990 from the perspectives of a donor and a regulator and discuss best practices for using the form as a tool to provide transparency on a charity’s operations.
The event will take place at the Main Line Chamber of Commerce, 175 Strafford Avenue, Ste 130, in Wayne, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 from 9am to noon. Presenters include
Laura Solomon, Esq. of Laura Solomon Esquire and Associates, and Tracy McCurdy, Esq., Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations.
