Chipotle and Earth Force Invite Applications for Sustainability Challenge
Chipotle and Earth Force are inviting applications for the Sustainability Challenge, which seeks projects that work toward sustainable agriculture cultivated by today’s young minds.
To that end, grants will be awarded to young people ages 8 to 18 in support of efforts to make food systems more sustainable. The challenge includes opportunities for funding; small grants of between $500 and $1,000 will be awarded in support of Action Plans. Once applicants have researched food systems and found an issue to address, applicants may submit an Action Plan to receive money to carry it out. The first one hundred complete submissions will also receive an extra $100. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2022.
In addition, prizes of up to $1,000 will be awarded in support of Action Stories, or documented efforts to carry out actions to make food systems more sustainable. Action Stories may include video, photos, a journal, a presentation, or something new. Up to fifteen submissions will receive $1,000 and the top sixteen to thirty submissions will receive $500. The deadline is March 31, 2022.
All contestants must be between the ages of 8 and 18 as of October 4, 2021; contestants under 18 must get their parent or legal guardian’s permission to participate in the challenge; and all contestants must partner with an adult mentor to be eligible for implementation and/or prize money.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Earth Force website.
Deadline: January 31, 2022
