Webinar: Unintended Consequences of Short-Term Global Health Activities: Impacts on Local Health Systems, Lessons from Latin America – Apr 17
Posted by The Community-Based Global Learning Collaborative on March 25, 2025
Join health sector leaders in Bolivia, Ecuador and Guatemala to discuss perspectives on short-term global health activities, such as medical missions, global health programs, and volunteering, on local health systems and longitudinal efforts.
While many students, professionals and academics from the United States and other high income countries engage in short-term health and public activities abroad, there are less recognized unintended consequences that can be disruptive for local health systems and practices. Designed for all those running and improving global health and medical missions initiatives. Consider how to evolve your practices and those of peers!
Panelists will discuss realities in three Latin American countries and how to avoid mis-steps.
Date and Time: Thursday, April 17, 2025, 3:00-4:30 PM
