Webinar: Public Viewpoint: Insights from 2020, Implications for 2021 – Dec 9
Posted by Strada Education Network on December 1, 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped our country, our economy, our education system — and most importantly — our people. Since March, we have conducted regular surveys of American adults to understand how the pandemic is impacting their careers, aspirations, and education plans. Millions have lost jobs or income, and 6 in 10 working Americans remain fearful of losing their employment. They’ve told us that, if they do, they will need additional education and training to re-enter the workforce — yet they aren’t showing up in the numbers we’ve come to expect during economic downturns. Longstanding barriers to access and equity play a major role, but Americans are also telling us they are held back by both self-doubt and growing concerns about whether education will pay off.
As we head into 2021, these data raise critical questions: Will confidence in the value of education rebound with the economy? How will perceptions of the fairness of the system evolve? Will interest in additional education translate to actual enrollment, and what can colleges do to ensure it does? Join the Strada Center for Education Consumer Insights research team as they share the key findings and themes from the 2020 Public Viewpoint research and discuss the critical implications leaders in the field as they plan for 2021.
