Webinar: Navigating the Benefit Cliffs of Guaranteed Income Pilots – Feb 1
Posted by Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity on February 1, 2022
In recent years, the number of Guaranteed Income (GI) pilots has grown across the nation, funded through an array of philanthropic and public funding. While this new approach to promoting economic security continues to generate interest, many challenges persist in how to align GI pilots with existing public assistance benefits to ensure GI payments do not unintentionally create benefit cliffs that cut off other critical supports that are key to help families achieve well-being and pursue upward mobility. Join American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) for a webinar with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta to understand how GI impacts public assistance benefits; identify policy levers available to mitigate benefit cliffs stemming from GI pilots; and learn about tools available that can be used to analyze these benefit cliffs to improve the design of GI pilots and support informed decision making for people considering participation in GI pilots.
During the webinar, attendees will also hear from a panel of state and local agencies that are involved in GI pilots who will reflect on their own challenges and strategies to navigate benefit cliffs.
This event will take place on Tuesday, February 1 at 3 p.m. ET.
