Virtual Webinar for Educators: Media Literacy and Mental Health – Oct 25
Posted by Pulitzer Center on October 17, 2023
How can media literacy skills support student mental health?
Join us during Media Literacy Week for Media Literacy and Mental Health, a discussion on the relationship between robust media literacy skills and student mental health, and how educators can prioritize student wellbeing and social-emotional learning when introducing media literacy resources.
On Wednesday, October 25, from 7:00 to 8:00pm EDT, we’ll be joined by a panel of educators who will share how they teach media literacy and current events in their classroom, how they prioritize mental health during their students’ learning journeys, and how it has impacted their students.
We’ll hear from Pulitzer Center Teacher Fellows Karen Sojourner, a high school teacher in Kansas City, Missouri; Lisa Holewa, an elementary school teacher and former journalist in San Mateo, California; and Michelle Dueñas Mowery, a high school teacher in Chicago, Illinois. After the discussion, participants are invited to engage in a Q&A with the panel and Pulitzer Center staff on media literacy education and supporting students of all ages.
Upon completion of a short survey following the webinar, attendees can receive a certificate for two professional learning units (PLUs).
We hope to see you there! This event is free, but registration beforehand is required. Click here to register and save your spot!
