Virtual Lunch & Learn: SEPTA & Young Riders: Transit for the Next Generation – Feb 10
Posted by Young Involved Philadelphia on January 27, 2026
On behalf of the SEPTA Youth Advisory Council (YAC), YIP (Young Involved Philadelphia) would like to invite you to SEPTA & Young Riders: Transit for the Next Generation, a virtual lunch and learn about transit for young riders in our city and community.
SEPTA does not collect data on riders less than 18 years old. But as worldwide data supports that public transit is heavily used by female riders for household tasks, it is likely that young riders are among its heaviest users (as mothers are often left to childrearing activities).Regardless, riders 18-35 make up almost half of SEPTA’s ridership. And yet they are:
- Underrepresented in decision-making
- Often unaware of how to influence transit policy
- Disproportionately affected by inconsistent service, safety concerns, fare policy, and limited frequency
Date and Time: February 10, 2026, 12:00-1:00 PM
About the YAC:
The SEPTA Youth Advisory Council is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit, with a mission to make public transit the preferred method of travel among young people in Southeastern Pennsylvania. We work to achieve this goal through advocacy of affordable transit, outreach to young people, and advising SEPTA on various initiatives.
