Current and Upcoming K-16 Partnerships Event: Next Steps

Posted by on February 29, 2012

The K-16 Partnerships Network has been hard at work developing programs and projects that are being implemented this semester.

On February 17th we kicked off the spring semester with a great networking and information sharing event hosted by the non-profit partnerships committee. We brought together 45 Network Members to discuss university-non-profit-school partnerships, unique uses for college students and how to sustain higher commitments within these partnerships.

The College Access Committee is excited to be taking applications for our first big event of the semester happening on March 10th! Read more below and apply here: https://phennd.org/

K-16 Partnerships Spring Forum

The K-16 Partnerships Spring Forum discussed many issues facing the K-16 community. Each presenter brought a unique perspective to the table. The goal of this event was to provide participants with information from professors, college students, non-profit professionals and school administrators. During the three panel sessions each constituency was represented which allowed for rich dialogue and discussion about what meaningful K-16 partnerships look like.

Next Steps Event

March 10th 2012, 11:00AM-2:00PM

For all college students from Philadelphia dedicated to college success, PHENND is excited to introduce an opportunity for you to help shape the support given to incoming Philadelphia High School students attending your school in fall 2012.

Whereas local colleges and universities are seeing record numbers of Philadelphia applicants, the proportion of our students that actually matriculate and graduate is far less.

The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development College Access Committee needs your help to be part of a team of college students that will mentor graduating high school seniors in essential skills such as time management, how to reach out for academic support and how to get involved in clubs and activities on campus. These teams will form a planning committee in anticipation for welcome receptions and activities in April and May and July.
You will be working with high school students who need it the most, especially those who have not yet received support from their school or other programs. Represent your campus and encourage newly admitted students to make this life-changing decision!
