Philadelphia Food Access Collaborative

Position Description:
Philadelphia Food Access Collaborative Coordinator will be responsible to (1) build on the newly developed infrastructure designed to manage the Center City Food Access Collaborative; (2) develop the infrastructure and protocols to disseminate information to social service providers, individuals in need, and the community about resources and services; (3) develop trainings to increase provider and community knowledge of resources to better support the needs of individuals experiencing food insecurity; and (4) evaluate the impact of the Center City Food Access Collaborative on increasing the City’s capacity to serve Philadelphians who are food insecure.

AmeriCorps VISTAs receive an annual living allowance of $12,192 ($468 every two weeks), before taxes. Accepting a position as an AmeriCorps VISTA is a one year commitment. While serving, VISTAs cannot have other employment.

They have the option to enroll in the VISTA Health Benefits Program. When hired VISTA will be a member of the SERVE Philadelphia VISTA team, which will require that the VISTA attend regular team meetings. VISTAs who are part of the SERVE Philadelphia VISTA team will also receive a monthly transportation pass.

AmeriCorps VISTAs who successfully complete their year of service can choose to receive either an Education Award of $5,550 or End of Service Stipend of $1,500. The Education Award, which is subject to taxation, can be applied to any federally backed student loan or used to pay tuition in the future.

Fun Safe Philly Summer

Position Description:
FSPS Coordinator will be responsible for building the City’s capacity to connect children and families to high quality opportunities in Summer 2014, with a focus on promoting educational opportunities, work placement opportunities for teens, and free summer meals. Specifically, the VISTA will (1) strengthen partnerships and information sharing with external stakeholders; (2) develop partnerships that promote job opportunities for teens; (3) coordinate summer outreach volunteers charged to spread the word about Free Summer Meals; and (4) evaluate strategies of the City’s ‘Fun Safe Philly Summer’ campaign to inform improvements/enhancements for the following year.
