Job Description

TITLE:
Assistant Program Manager (APM)

TIME:
Part-time, permanent.  Up to 28 hours per week.

SALARY:
Hourly.  Up to $22 per hour.

ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION:
The Assistant Program Manager works in the Community and Economic Development (CED) Department of UAC at 1207 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia.

OUTCOMES:
The outcomes of the work of the APM are:
•    Substantive contribution to wealth building, community revitalization, economic development and social justice in urban areas in southeastern Pennsylvania through financial education, foreclosure prevention, data base management, reporting and communications for the CED department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The APM is responsible for 1) assisting the Director in managing CED’s Foreclosure Prevention Program including publishing the Foreclosure Prevention Resource Guide, 2) assisting the Program Manager in managing the Financial Education Program, 3) managing the database, grant reporting and communications functions within the department, 4) assisting the Director with fundraising, 5) providing support and guidance to student interns, 6) office management for 4-8 CED staff members and 5) managing special projects.

REPORTS TO:
Reports directly to Director of Community and Economic Development (CED) Department and indirectly to Program Manager of CED Department.

SKILLS REQUIRED:  Ability to:

•    Provide financial education to low- and moderate-income people.
•    Organize programmatic and policy responses to the foreclosure problem.
•    Work effectively with the public, nonprofit and private sectors, especially with financial institutions and community organization leaders.
•    Organize meetings of committees, task forces and working groups.
•    Communicate clearly in training programs, discussions and meetings.
•    Write well for funding reports, proposals, program reports, correspondence, testimonies, meeting minutes and task force recommendations.
•    Monitor funding and expense contracts.
•    Contribute to internal organizational planning.
•    Use Microsoft Office programs, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
•    Type well.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
•    Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
•    Accreditation in financial education and/or housing or credit counseling.
•    At least three years experience in some combination of community development, financial education, foreclosure prevention or economic development.
•    Experience in public speaking.
•    Proven ability to write.
•    Experience in grant writing, contract reporting and database management.
•    Proven commitment to social and economic justice for disadvantaged groups in a democratic and capitalist society.
