The Lindy Center for Civic Engagement is currently hiring a Program Coordinator for the Lindy Scholars Middle-School Mentoring Program.

The Lindy Scholars Program serves middle-school students at three public schools in West Philadelphia. The program provides a combination of math and literacy tutoring, mentoring, and workshops for parents and teachers at each of the partner schools.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of the afterschool program and Saturday mentoring sessions of the Lindy Scholars program.
  • Coordinate and oversee the intensive summer component of the Lindy Scholars program
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with the principals, teachers, and other administrators at our public school partners.
  • Recruit Lindy Scholars and sustain Scholars’ involvement with the program. This includes establishing and maintaining positive relationships with families, answering routine questions about the program, and marketing the program to students at each school.
  • Market, recruit, hire and train Drexel students to serve as Lindy Advisors.
  • Supervise Drexel student leaders as Advisors and as program staff to coordinate various aspects of the program.
  • Coordinate with School of Education faculty to develop curriculum and provide trainings/information sessions for Lindy Advisors, school teachers, and parents/guardians of Lindy Scholars.
  • Contract with non-profit organizations to provide additional activities as needed for afterschool programming.
  • Create and manage master calendar for the program.
  • Manage the program budget
  • Assist program evaluator with retrieving data on the program as needed.
  • Launch and manage the Lindy Scholars Alumni Network.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with staff/faculty of the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement and the School of Education to plan/assess the program.
  • Serve as a key member of the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement staff.
