PRO-ACT Recovery Walk

Posted by on August 13, 2012

Recovery Walks! 2012 will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Penn’s Landing in downtown Philadelphia. We’re hoping to exceed our previous record of 15,000 people attending.

Recovery Walks! is the Philadelphia area’s annual National Recovery Month event, a nationwide movement that celebrates individuals who have sustained long-term recovery and honors people and organizations who make recovery possible.

The purpose of the PRO-ACT Recovery Walks! Is to raise awareness that drug and alcohol addiction is a public health concern; overcome stigma; put a positive face on recovery; provide hope that people do recover; honor the people and organizations that provide services for the recovery community; show solidarity; and honor those who have not survived this disease.

Our annual Recovery Walks! event is also an important PRO-ACT fundraiser at which we raise funds for PRO-ACT’s prevention, advocacy, and recovery support services that benefit the entire community. All proceeds are used to continue our work of helping individuals and families to access and sustain long-term recovery from alcohol and other drug addictions. We do this through programs to support community and individual activities, educate the public and media, raise awareness, fight stigma, and advocate at the federal, state, and local levels.
To register for PRO-ACT’s Recovery Walks! 2012, to sponsor the event, to set up a team, or to get more detailed information, please go to the Recovery Walks! Web site.
