Women’s Way announces new Philly Girls Fund
The Philly Girls Fund is a new program of Women’s Way that invites teen girls from Philadelphia public and charter high schools to participate in a youth-led grantmaking program.
Through training, support and interactive activities, Women’s Way will prepare the girls to think strategically, prioritize needs and allocate funds to selected organizations dedicated to fighting for gender justice, while empowering these promising teen leaders to understand the issues their grants will address and the impact of their work.
How does the Philly Girls Fund work?
Participants will meet from October to December 2015 to select organizations to be funded through the Philly Girls Fund. Participants each receive a $100 stipend, tokens to get to and from meetings and the opportunity to present their grants at the 2016 Women’s Way Powerful Voice Award on April 28, 2016! Dinner will also be provided at each meeting.
How can girls apply?
Any girl enrolled in a Philadelphia public or charter high school during the 2016-2017 school year is welcome to apply. Applications will be received until August 28, 2015 and applicants will be notified of their acceptance by September 15, 2015.
