PHENND Joins Forces with the Sixers Youth Foundation to support after-school programming for students and families
Posted by on August 31, 2017
Beginning this upcoming school year, PHENND is launching a new partnership with the Sixers Youth Foundation. This partnership will support students and families through Coaching Cafés. PHENND will facilitate the program at two new PHENND VISTA schools, continuing the program at Harding Middle in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, and expanding the program to Emlen Elementary School located in the East Mount Airy neighborhood.
Creating family time during the week can be hard, so the goal of the Coaching Cafés is to engage parents and caregivers around a shared meal. Bringing students and their families together at their school twice a month over food and conversation will help to foster more productive communication between home and school. Students and families will also be able to engage in fun physical activities as well as play Math Hoops, a fun educational board game with a NBA theme.
