PA Education Talking Points Memo: Adequacy Funding
Posted by PA Schools Work on August 26, 2025
PA Schools Work is a non-partisan coalition of organizations from across Pennsylvania representing teachers and other educators; urban, suburban, and rural communities; and parents and community members working together to advocate for PA public schools, their students, and the communities they serve.
Pennsylvania lawmakers voted for the adequacy funding formula in last year’s budget, making a crucial commitment to complying with the constitutional mandate to fully fund public schools. Now, some GOP Senators are publicly musing about abandoning this formula before it can fully deliver on its promise to public school students.
Virtually every Senate district in Pennsylvania stands to gain from adequacy funding. Walking away now would deny students the educational resources they deserve and break a promise to Pennsylvania families.
