Organic Farming’s Impact on Health
Posted by Food Tank on September 1, 2014
Food Tank will host the sixth webinar in its Exclusive Webinar Series on Wednesday, September 10, entitled “Organic Farming’s Impact on Health.” The webinar features new research from Dr. Charles Benbrook, professor at Washington State University’s Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources. It will take place from 12pm to 1pm EST.
Dr. Benbrook’s new study comparing organic and conventional crops confirms that organic farming methods do have a positive impact on health. Results found substantially higher levels of antioxidants and lower levels of pesticides in organic crops versus conventional crops. Dr. Benbrook, co-author of the study, says, “Our results are highly relevant and significant and will help both scientists and consumers sort through the often conflicting information currently available on the nutrient density of organic and conventional plant-based foods.” Dr. Benbrook will discuss the results and findings of this study in more detail during the webinar.
