The Community Health Training Alliance is proud to present our first webinar as a part of African American History Month.
Nothing About Us Without Us will be held February 16th at 12 noon. This webinar is free and open to the public. For tech assistance the Critical Path Lab located at 1233 Locust st. on the 3rd floor is open Tuesday through Friday, 10am-1:30pm.
Description
Nothing About Us With Out Us has been a liberating battle cry of people and advocates living with HIV around the globe. The crusade for inclusion and credibility of people living with HIV to be meaningfully engaged in development, delivery and evaluation of policy and program planning which impacts our lives has a deep history rooted in the Denver Principles.
Our Webinar Nothing About Us Without Us will share that history and provide a deeper understanding of meaningful involvement of people living with HIV from practical as well as from organizational stand points. We will delve into the barriers and challenges of engaging those most impacted by the AIDS epidemic including racism and hiring practices. The presenters on the webinar Teresa Sullivan, Venita Ray and Waheedah Shabazz-El, are women living with HIV who refer to themselves as the subject matter experts. This training will also discuss actions which can be taken to eliminate tokenism and reserve space at decision making tables for meaningful consultation and engagement of those most impacted.
