Ten-day conversation series focuses on legacy of Malcolm X

The Islamic Cultural Preservation and Information Council and the New Africa Center will present a Malcolm X Legacy Conversation, taking place in multiple venues around Philadelphia for ten days, and concluding with Malcolm’s birthday on May 19.

Each conservation will include a screening of the film “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” which focuses on the impact of the book by the same name, had on race relations in America. The film has dramatizations and interviews with Malcolm X’s family and friends along with scholars and authors.

Thursday May 10th Friends Center 1501 Cherry Street 7pm to 9pm

Friday May 11th United Bank Building 3750 Lancaster Ave, 6pm to 9pm
Malcolm’s Legacy Impacting Self Determination in the African American Community
Panelist: Dr. Michael J. Dennis, Mitchell Chance, Officer Jessie Woodhouse, Mujahiddeen Muhammad and others.

Saturday May 12th Masjidullah 7401 Limeklin Pike, 2pm to 5pm
Malcolm’s Legacy Impacting Islam in the African American Community
Panelist: Imam Muhammad Abdul-Aleem, Dr. Khalid Blankinship Temple, Timothy Wilbeck, Esq, Salima Suswell

Sunday May 13th Philadelphia Masjid 4700 Wyalusing Ave, 2pm to 5pm
Malcolm’s Legacy Impacting Economic & Cultural Development in the African American Community.
Panelist: Imam Kenneth Nurideen, Dr. Ahmet Selim Tekelioglu, Officer Jessie Woodhouse and others

Malcolm’s Legacy Impacting Community Empowerment
Panelist: Dr. Donald F. Tibbs Drexel Law School, Mitchell Chance, Mujahiddeen Muhammad, Jihad Ahmed and others.

Tuesday May 15th Temple University Paley Library (Ground Floor) 1210 Polett Walk, 6pm to 8pm
