The Major Gifts Associate (MGA) provides strategic direction and support for a wide range of activities associated with the division’s Major Gifts and Principal Giving program

Major Gifts: Initiates and completes prospect research profiles and makes recommendations involving prospect management; analyzes donor and prospect giving patterns and recommends communication strategies (specific mail schedules, contact by DRDs); produces revenue reports detailing unrestricted and restricted revenues; makes staff assignment recommendations to the ADD;, recommends annual goals for DRD individual donors and prospects; assists in determining cultivation and solicitation strategies for three DRD caseloads each consisting of 160 donors/prospects; produces complex reports required by Eastern Territory Office of Special Gifts; manages DRD caseload changes.

Principal Giving: In consultation with the ADD, identifies approximately 50 highest-level leadership donors and plans strategic communications for each Principal Giving donor/prospect. Maintains calendar of all moves management involving Principal Giving donors/prospects. Coordinates meetings, events, invitations involving all Major Gifts and Principal Giving donors. The MGA assists ADDP by producing correspondence; produces and analyzes regularly-scheduled reports detailing activities of DRDs; schedules internal and external meetings for ADDP and three Donor Relations Directors; maintains calendar for ADDP.

Requirements:

Must be committed to and embrace the mission of The Salvation Army and must have a passion for the role of development in furthering that mission. Must have a strong grasp of the specific disciplines within development, especially major gifts. Must be able to effectively multi-task within deadlines and think and lead at a strategic level. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate effectively, reliably and professionally with professionals and leaders in the community as well as with key leadership stakeholders in The Salvation Army. Must be well-organized, proactive, and excellent at follow-up. Must demonstrate good judgment, leadership and discernment, and work well as part of a development team, able to work effectively and in harmony with officers, staff and volunteers. Must have a valid Driver’s License and be willing to travel extensively within the Division. Must be computer proficient, able to easily and effectively use email and Microsoft Office applications.
