Literacy volunteers eligible for Drexel online tuition discounts
Posted by Mayor's Commission on Literacy on January 19, 2015
The Mayor’s Commission on Literacy operates a number of volunteer programs that engage adults interested in serving as tutors, tech tutors, or mentors of adult learners.
Volunteers trained by the Commission are matched at one of dozens of adult education organizations throughout Philadelphia to provide adult learners with guidance, support, and the literacy tools needed to successfully complete the GED, pass employer exams, or get accepted into post-secondary or job-training programs.
Volunteers gain the opportunity to help a neighbor achieve their educational or professional goals while earning skills and experiences that can bolster their own resume.
The Commission has announced that volunteers are also now eligible for 10-40% tuition discounts to Drexel University Online.

To be eligible for tuition discounts, volunteers must complete Tutor or Mentor Training; mentor or tutor their matched learner on a weekly basis; and complete 6 months or 60 hours of documented volunteer service.
To become a volunteer, call Saadia Oulamine at 215-686-5252 or email http://www.drexel.edu/academics/drexel-online/.
