Juneteenth Kickoff Virtual Learning Circle – Jun 9
Posted by GivePulse on June 7, 2022
Join us on June 9 at 2:00 PM ET for our Juneteenth Kickoff Virtual Learning Circle, where we will kick off a three-part virtual learning circle to share concrete strategies for countering the role of service- learning in perpetuating white privilege and racism.
Ten years ago, in the article, “Service Learning as a Pedagogy of Whiteness,” Mitchell Donahue & Young-Law demonstrated that it is all too common for community-engaged learning to perpetuate white privilege and racism. They offered a case study of a typical service-learning course, analysis, and suggestions of strategies to interrupt the normalized patterns present in much of service learning.
Join our learning circle to hear case studies from experts in the field and a facilitated discussion based on reflections of service learning.
