PHENND is very excited to announce the arrival of a new staff member, Daisy Villa.

Daisy's Headshot

Daisy is the Next Steps Project Coordinator, a youth leadership development initiative that partners first-year college students with rising college sophomores and juniors. Next Steps is designed to support students over their first-year experience through community service, mentorship, supportive workshops, and leadership development.

Daisy strives to narrow the achievement gap found in economically disadvantaged communities and is committed to empowering students with the educational foundation they need to succeed in their future endeavors. Last year she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Philadelphia University overseeing a mentoring program called P.U.M.P.-up, which partnered PhilaU students with at-risk elementary, middle and high schools students in East Falls, Roxborough, Germantown, and surrounding neighborhoods. Prior to that, she was a Civic Engagement Scholar housed at The Mary Jane Underwood Stryker Institution for Civic Engagement, coordinating a dual immersion tutoring program at El Sol Elementary School. Daisy graduated with a B.A. in Human Development and Social Relations and minored in Classical Civilization from Kalamazoo College. Daisy is originally from Los Angeles and is also a Posse alumni.

Daisy can be reached at [email protected]
