IMPROVING HIGH SCHOOLS
In January 2004, MDRC brought together a group of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners for a two-day colloquium about using rigorous, evidence-based research to improve low-performing high schools.
This report describes the colloquium’s proceedings, summarizes the major themes that emerged from discussions, and compiles three papers that were commissioned for the event from well-known scholars. Co-convened by The National High School Alliance and The Council of the Great City Schools and sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundations, the colloquium was the first event in MDRC’s High School Reform Conference Series.
