How Museums and Libraries Create Lifelong Learners

A new report, Growing Young Minds: How Museums and Libraries Create Lifelong Learners, released by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, highlights 10 ways that public museums and libraries work to support early learning, providing a bridge between informal and formal learning environments.
The top three ways museums and libraries support early learning efforts is to
- increase high-quality early learning experiences;
- engage an support families as their child’s first teachers; and
- support the development of executive function and “deeper learning” skills through literacy and STEM-based experience.
Libraries and museums provide literacy-rich environments that are a critical foundation for early learning. Leveraging these assets is an important step to improve early learning.
