Hip Hop Heritage Program, SEAMAAC

Posted by SEAMAAC on March 23, 2021

SEAMAAC runs both an OST after school as well as a PYN summer workready program called Hip Hop Heritage. Our programs are looking for students in 7th to 12th who are interested in learning more about the history of hip hop, graffiti art, and breakdancing! It is also an incentive based program, so hopefully it is also a good way for students to get paid for their art while learning and honing their skills!

The Hip Hop Heritage after school program has opportunities Monday – Friday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM weekly, with both remote and in-person options. Please check out the attached application, schedule, and the summary below if you, or anyone you know, are interested!

This is a free program for families and we will provide all of the necessary art supplies for students! We have kits made up that have the same supplies our instructors use that are ready and waiting!

Summary of Program: SEAMAAC’s Hip Hop Heritage (H3) program is an afterschool and summer program for low-income Philadelphia students in grades 7 – 12. H3 uses project-based learning with the core strategy in arts, visual, performing, and media production. The focus is on building youth skills in hip hop, including instruction in breakdancing, graffiti, and leadership through a lens of civic engagement, cultural heritage and social justice.
