The Workshop School Needs Your Help

For the last several years the Workshop has partnered with the City of Philadelphia’s Graduation Coach Campaign. Giving the students the opportunity to get to know successful adults is critical to mission of the Workshop and to our students’ success. This year the Workshop has 92 students enrolled at its school in West Philadelphia. We are very interested in building on the Graduation Coach program and would greatly appreciate your help.

What is the Workshop School?
The Workshop School is a small School District of Philadelphia public school. Students at the Workshop develop academic skills by developing projects that address real-world challenges.

Where is the Workshop School located?
We are conveniently located at 221 South Hanson Street (Between Walnut and Locust and between 48th and 49th). We are easily accessible from the Route 21 or the Market-Frankford El.

How can I help?
Retirees, community members, and college students can volunteer to be Graduation Coaches or tutors. If you would like to do even more, we will talk to you about giving specific project support.

How big a commitment am I making?
We have set aside time every Wednesday from 12:15 to 1:15, when we welcome adults to work with our students in their advisories. Advisories are small – about 15 students, so the experience for both students and Coaches should be rewarding.  We hope that you can come at least once or twice a month. If you would like a little more time, you are welcome to join us for lunch from 11:45 to 12:15.

What if I can’t come at that time?
Talk to us. We’d like to make it work?

What’s next?
Please contact ann.cohen@workshopschool.org and ask for a Graduation Coach Survey.
If you have questions, please feel free to call Ann at 215-817-4951
