General Operating Support for organizing women and girls

Posted by New Century Trust on May 14, 2018

Since 1882, New Century Trust has worked to build the economic and political power of women and girls throughout the Philadelphia region. We know that as women become more financially stable, they use those resources to drive equitable change for all. When that power is fully realized, they lead their communities to dismantle oppressive systems and make positive change. We use our financial assets to support organizations working to remove barriers and create economic and political opportunities for women and girls in Philadelphia.

TRUST BASED PHILANTHROPY
In response to overwhelming feedback from the non-profit community, New Century Trust is transitioning to a “trust-based” approach to philanthropy.  We have chosen to invest in long-term partnerships with organizations by providing multi-year general operating support.

Beyond funding, we want to create an avenue for open communication and mutual learning so that we can work together to connect your organization to opportunities and resources based on your organizational needs (strategic planning, board development, fundraising, etc.). By engaging in an ongoing conversation about your organization, we believe we will be better able to add value to your work and reduce the unnecessary administrative burden usually associated with grant writing and reporting.

BECOMING A PARTNER
Currently, New Century Trust is seeking to build a small network of 4-6 organizations that are actively addressing the political and/or economic gender gap through community organizing and policy advocacy. The funding will be in the $8,000-$15,000 range depending on the number of partners. We are particularly interested in working with organizations that are serving underrepresented communities and are led by directly impacted people, particularly those who are: low income; people of color; immigrants; gender non-conforming; disabled; long-time residents. While this opportunity is not limited to organizations serving only women, you should be able to clearly articulate how the work positively impacts women and girls, including any specific gender approaches you take.

OUR PROCESS
1) If you are interested in partnering with us, please fill out the following short survey by June 15, 2018. The sooner you fill it out, the sooner we can start talking.
2) If we think there is a good mutual fit for a potential partnership, we will contact you to discuss further.
3) After we better understand your programs and needs, our board will decide whether or not to make an investment in your organization.
