SYNOPSIS:
The sponsor makes grants to non-profit organizations in the U.S. and Canada addressing issues of social and economic justice. Grants are given to projects creating systemic social change through collective action.

OBJECTIVES:
Grants are made to non-Unitarian Universalist groups in the U.S. and Canada that: use community organizing to bring about systemic change leading to a more just society; mobilize those who have been disenfranchised and excluded from resources, power and the right to self determination; and inspire generosity amomg the sponsor’s members and member congregations.

Priority is given to groups of people organizing to create change in the economic, social, and political structures that affect their lives. The sponsor welcomes projects that are less likely to receive conventional funding because of the innovative or challenging nature of the work or the economic and social status of the constituency.

FUNDING
The maximum grant is $15,000. Most grants are between $6,000 and $8,000. Grants are given for one year. Challenge or matching grants are a possibility.
