Drexel University Philadelphia Teacher Residency Program – Now Accepting Applications
Posted by Drexel University on February 19, 2019
Drexel University’s Philadelphia Teacher Residency program is now accepting applications for a new cohort that will begin this June. Accepted Teacher Residents receive a generous tuition scholarship that covers nearly the entire cost of the program, as well as salary and health benefits through the School District of Philadelphia. Teacher Residents spend one school year working side-by-side with mentor teachers to learn best practices for teaching, learning, and classroom management. Students also take 2 online courses per quarter at Drexel that are required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for PA Instructional I teaching certification. Upon completion of the program, teachers are hired to teach in a Philadelphia public school. Drexel University faculty will continue to provide mentorship and assistance to new teachers for two years after graduation to ensure that our teacher residents have long and successful careers teaching Philly.
Drexel’s Philadelphia Teacher Residency program currently offers certification in middle grade and secondary science and math subjects.
