WORK UNIT: VICE PROVOST FOR EDUCATIONAL EQUITY , Academic Advancement Programs – Educational Opportunity Center, Philadelphia
LOCATION:Philadelphia Area

Responsible to the Director of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) based in Philadelphia for recruitment activities and general assistance in handling admissions and financial aid matters for adults wishing to pursue education beyond high school or GED. Duties include recruiting participants for the program (traveling throughout the County of Philadelphia), assessing eligibility, advising/counseling program participants on career and educational decisions, conducting workshops, and aiding participants through successful enrollment in a post-secondary educational program.

Requires a Master`s degree, or equivalent knowledge in higher education, counseling, social work or related field, plus 3 months of work-related experience. A state certification in counseling preferred. Must have the ability to work effectively in diverse and low-income communities within the Philadelphia area. Strong Spanish language skills preferred. Travel is involved and requires a valid driver`s license and vehicle. Occasional overnight travel to State College, PA required. The position will also require some weekend and evening hours. This is a fixed-term I position funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of refunding.
