Upcoming CLUW Conference – September 27th – Philadelphia

National CLUW is coming back to Philadelphia!

CLUW national interactive conference –
Desiging Our Own Future –

to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 18th & Market Streets, on Friday, September 27.
The conference cost is $20, $10 for students and “young workers” (under 30) and is open to the public. Kim Gandy, President of NOW, will be the luncheon speaker. The conference will be geared to young women, but is open and relevant to everyone. We are especially interested in recruiting younger union members and college students who are new or unfamiliar with the labor movement. The agenda will cover many issues important to young women, including reproductive rights, contraceptive coverage, domestic violence, date rape, pay equity, career planning, as well as broader union issues important to all workers. Please distribute this information widely. For those of you on college campuses, your assistance in publicizing the conference, especially among Women’s Studies studies would be much appreciated. For union leaders, please consider sending members to the conference.

We are also soliciting contributions on behalf of the national organization to offset the cost of the conference and the reception which will follow it. Contributions of any size are welcome and can be made out to CLUW and sent to our office at:1606 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. All participants are also welcome to attend the CLUW National Executive Board Meeting, which will be held in the same hotel on Saturday and Sunday morning. Additional materials about the conference will be available soon and will go out to many of you in a general mailing.

If you have questions, or want to be on our mailing list, send me an e-mail in return or call me at (215) 893-3770. Please help us build CLUW and motivate the next generation of union women activists by recruiting your members, friends, daughters, granddaughters and others to participate in this exciting conference.
