BUILD Health Challenge: Community Health Collaborations

Posted by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on December 01, 2014

The BUILD Health Challenge is a national award program designed to support community collaborations that are working to give everyone a fair chance to be healthy.

Specifically, the program awards planning grants of up to $75,000 and implementation grants of up to $250,000 to strengthen partnerships among hospitals, nonprofits, local health departments, and other community organizations to improve the health of low-income neighborhoods in cities with a population of 150,000 or greater. Awards will support up to fourteen community-driven efforts that address health-shaping factors individuals can’t control such as neighborhood safety or whether there’s a grocery store in the immediate area where residents can buy healthy food.

In addition to grants, awardees will have access to a broad range of support services, including technical assistance, coaching, and access to networks of population health innovators.

Preference will be given to collaborative projects that aim to identify, highlight, and advance new models for improving community health and health equity. The challenge aims to identify and share the most promising innovations and best practices with the rest of the country.

BUILD Health will be holding a series of informational webinars for potential participants on December 2, 4, and 9, 2014.

Round I applications must be received no later than January 16, 2015. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit Round II applications, which must be returned by April 10, 2015.

DEADLINE: JANUARY 16, 2015 (PRE-APPLICATIONS)
