The PSLA has an exciting opportunity for seasoned service learning facilitators and trainers to build a network of certified service learning trainers across Pennsylvania and beyond!

Materials Provided: TOT Binder, Service Learning Trainers Toolkit & CD (42 hands on, interactive training activities), Connecting Curriculum Categories Game, “Reflection; Adding cognitive Elements to Service Learning”, ”Motivational Elements in Service Learning”, and LEADERS: Planning & Reflection Guide for Youth

Sponsored by State Farm, and in partnership with the PA Council for the Social Studies, the PSLA Service Learning Trainer Certification process will prepare a group of trainers to deliver quality service-learning trainings to K-12 Schools, community-based agencies, and higher education institutions in their local community.

*State Farm will provide $150 scholarships for 20 PA selected participants to attend the Certification Training. Scholarship recipients will be part of the PSLA network of trainers and will be sent referrals when requests for service-learning trainings are received in their region.

Roles/ Expectations of Certified Trainers:
•    Must be able to attend the 2-day certification training on October
•    Lead and/or design workshops to expand knowledge of service learning in your region.
•    Provide practical guidance to implement service-learning in your region.
•    Stay connected through PSLA
•    Collaborate with other Certified Trainers, if needed.

Scholarship Selection Criteria
–    The candidate must have a deep knowledge of, and be skilled in service learning.
–    The candidate must possess strong presentation and facilitation skills.
–    The candidate must have the interest and ability to work beyond his or her personal work site.
–    It is hoped, but not required, that the candidate have a special service or content area of expertise.
