ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR – WORKPLACE CAMPAIGN

The United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s mission is to harness, leverage and strategically invest the collective power of donors, advocates and volunteers, to drive measurable results that improve the lives of people in our region. We have an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to join our team as Associate Director, Workplace Campaign in the Resource Development Department. The ideal candidate develops, recommends and leads the implementation of fundraising strategies and tactics. The Associate Director leads a team of Development Officers and Development Coordinators to build relationships with and maximize support from volunteers, companies and individual donors. The ideal candidate will provide leadership, direction and evaluation of staff in support of departmental and organizational goals and objectives. The focus of this position is 50% external and 50% internal.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree; five (5) to seven (7) years of successful relationship management experience required (development/fundraising or sales). Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience preferably managing a sales/fundraising team and two (2) to four (4) years of United Way fundraising experience desirable.

Essential Functions:

Relationship Management/Fundraising

•Develop and implement strategies designed to build relationships and maximize financial support for UWSEPA.
•Develop and execute fundraising and engagement plans for specific campaign divisions, accounts and individual donors/prospects. Generate corporate contributions, sponsorships, employee campaign contributions and major/leadership gifts from individual employees.
•Proactively develop and advance comprehensive relationship-building/fundraising plans for specific campaign divisions, accounts and individual donors/prospects. Strategically manage the full relationship continuum from research, identification and prioritizing of donors/prospects through cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
•Generate corporate contributions, sponsorships, employee campaign contributions and major/leadership gifts from individual employees.
•Manage multiple high-value and/or high-potential, strategic corporate accounts involving multiple relationships and complex campaign execution.
•Cultivate and steward relationships with a prioritized portfolio of existing corporate partners and individual donors. Identify, cultivate and secure support from new corporate partners and workplace-based individuals.
•Conduct regular, personal and meaningful interactions with priority donors/prospects through events, face-to-face meetings and conversations.
•Ensure appropriate acknowledgement and stewardship for all donors. Write personalized communications for high-value and high-potential donors/prospects.
•Manage financial data and constituent information utilizing UWSERPA’s relational database. Track and report constituent information and development activities in a timely fashion. Develop specific gift projections to assist with overall revenue projections and revenue management plans.
•Oversee the preparation of donor pledge information to be submitted for processing, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed to yield appropriate, timely and accurate acknowledgements for all donors.

Leadership/Management

•Provide leadership, coaching and supervision for a team of Development Officers and Coordinators. Lead the team in developing performance objectives, work plans and tactics. Hold staff accountable for execution and goal achievement.
•Work with department leadership to recruit, hire, train and ensure professional development of team members.
•Provide and promote a positive departmental culture featuring teamwork, accountability and a commitment to excellence.
•Supervise seasonal Loaned Executives assigned to support specific campaign divisions and activities.

Volunteer Management/Engagement

•Identify, cultivate and recruit corporate leaders to join annual Campaign Cabinet.
•Provide direction and support for Division Chairs and Volunteers.
•Manage volunteer relationships to maximize their engagement and effectiveness.
•Recruit corporate volunteers, both individuals and groups, to participate in UWSEPA volunteer initiatives and activities.

Product Knowledge
Develop thorough understanding of:

•UWSEPA vision, mission, value proposition & strategic objectives.
•UWSEPA community impact agenda and priorities.
•Volunteer engagement opportunities and mobilization strategies.
•Specific community impact programs and projects (products).
•Messaging platform and communication tools.

The successful candidate will possess superior relationship management skills; cultivation and stewardship of individual relationships; exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to network and strong communication skills (written and verbal). The ideal candidate is a compelling public speaker/presenter, he/she has experience in securing gifts/close sales and achieve goals; This position requires outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and strong people management, coaching and supervision skills. This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), and experience with relational databases is highly desired. The desired individual will have access to personal transportation (car) and must be available to attend some early morning or evening events; minimal weekend events.
