GRANT FUNDED POSITION

The University Community Collaborative of Philadelphia (UCCP) prepares and supports youth and young adults to become confident, effective leaders and collaborates with organizations to create cultures that value and integrate the contributions of youth, thereby building stronger communities. The UCCP carries out its mission through programming, technical assistance and applied research activities.

The Assistant Director will be responsible for coordinating all of the UCCP’s programming in ways that support the city of Philadelphia’s educational priorities of increasing graduation rates and college access for its students.  The person will provide strategic guidance, support and leadership for the UCCP’s Progressive Youth Leadership Development Continuum which is comprised of afterschool, summer and credit bearing internship programs for youth aged 14-24.  Through targeted outreach, the Assistant Director will also help other after-school programs to better align their activities with school day learning objectives. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Masters degree, preferably in Liberal Arts, Education or Social Work plus two (2) years experience working in a youth, education, or community related field or training and facilitation experience in a comparable field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and some weekends.
*Experience working with youth and young adults ages 14 to 24.
*Experience engaging young people and adults to work with diverse groups and learn about cross-cultural issues.
*Must have a strong knowledge of Philadelphia’s educational and political/governmental systems.
*Must have excellent communication, written, and facilitation skills.
*Demonstrated professionalism an interpersonal skills.
*Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently and effectively; meet organizational and project deadlines.
*Demonstrated supervisory and project management experience.
*Must be a critical thinker, creative in problem solving and collaboration and be able to work as a team player.
*Basic budget experience.
*Experience with database management, recording and tracking of data.
*Experience with MS Word, Excel, Access and Publisher.
*Must have access to reliable transportation.
