Accepting Applications: Community-Based Participatory Research Academy – Jan 24
Posted by Detroit Urban Research Center on December 21, 2021
Do you want to learn more about community-based participatory research (CBPR) — a collaborative approach for improving health and equity?
If the answer is YES, then we invite you to apply for the CBPR Partnership Academy, a year-long, intensive training program in CBPR.
The CBPR Partnership Academy is for community members and academic researchers with little or no CBPR experience who are interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills using a CBPR approach, to conduct research and action in collaborative partnership aimed at eliminating health inequities in their communities.
This highly successful program is facilitated by longstanding community and academic partners of the Detroit Community-Academic Urban Research Center (Detroit URC).
The overarching goal is for community-academic teams – working and learning together – to enhance their capabilities, knowledge, and skills in developing a successful CBPR partnership to make a positive difference in the health and well-being of their local communities. Engaging with other diverse teams fosters co-learning and innovation while building a supportive network across the country that includes previous cohorts, instructors, and mentors.
Program opportunities include:
- A week-long, intensive course in CBPR (July 10-15, 2022 or July 17-22, 2022)*
- Monthly webinars and forums
- Grant Funding for partnership/project development
- Mentoring by an experienced community-academic team
- Participation in the national CBPR Partnership Academy Network
* Course location (in person or remote) will be decided based on COVID guidance.
Twelve teams will be selected to participate in this unique, nationwide program. We encourage people from groups underrepresented in research to apply. Deadline to apply is January 24, 2022.
