Posted by The Rotunda on September 23, 2025
About The Rotunda:
The Rotunda is a community-gathering place that is fueled by the belief that art is a catalyst for social change and that the arts can lead to the formation of meaningful partnerships between the University of Pennsylvania and surrounding neighborhoods. Over 300 events are offered every year – produced by and for anyone and everyone who walks through the door – including live music, film, spoken word, theater, art, dance, education, youth programs, arts incubation, and various experimental genres. As an alcohol-free, smoke-free venue, The Rotunda provides a critical social alternative for all ages. At its core, The Rotunda is a shared space fostering learning, enrichment, and community support while empowering the public to present, produce, and promote their work.
More about the film:
In 2023 and 2024, Ellen Reynolds shot a wide variety of Rotunda events and interviews with a number of curators, founders, and supporters. The film she has crafted is beautiful, touching upon several major aspects of this little community venue that means so much to so many. One word that many people use for The Rotunda is HOME and this film shows why. In just 47 minutes, Reynolds manages to capture the spirit of this venue that is now celebrating 25+ years. Witnessing such joy on screen is the soothing balm that so many of us need right now.
