Van Ameringen Foundation invites LOIs for mental health programs
Established in 1950, the Van Ameringen Foundation funds innovative and practical programs for early intervention, advocacy, and increased accessibility of mental health services for people and communities with limited financial means and opportunities.
The foundation provides general support and project-specific grants in two categories:
Direct Service Grants: Grants of up to $75,000 per year over three years will be awarded to programs and projects that provide a direct service such as case management, assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, psychiatric care, training, jobs, housing, or other support to people and communities confronting significant mental illness.
Non-Direct Service Grants: Grants will be awarded to support strategies to create changes in the law, public policy, or the perceptions and practices of the public and private sectors responsible for improving mental health care, particularly in unserved or underserved communities; efforts that aim to share research findings, best practices, and knowledge related to improving the mental health safety net and system; and activities that provide learning and skill-building opportunities for mental health providers, advocates, people living with mental illness, policy makers, and family or community members seeking to deepen their understanding, knowledge, treatment, or social change efforts. Advocacy efforts are eligible for grants of up to $250,000 per year for up to three years; media/dissemination and training efforts are eligible for up to $75,000 per year for up to three years.
The foundation provides grants exclusively in the five boroughs of New York City and within the city limits of Philadelphia. It does not support programs related to intellectual or physical disability.
Letters of inquiry must be received no later than February 9, 2024, and upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application, due March 8, 2024.
For complete program guidelines, information about previous grant recipients, and application procedures, see the van Ameringen Foundation.
Deadline: February 9, 2024 (Letters of Inquiry)
