MLK Day of Service Grants – Oct 25

Posted by Youth Service America on September 22, 2026

The Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday is an official day of service and celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. Join us this MLK Day as we come together to build a Beloved Community. Let’s honor Dr. King’s legacy through service and volunteerism and demonstrate how joining together in service can transform your life and the lives of others. Whether it’s a small or big act of kindness, service has the power to unite people, build bridges, and heal divides.

Observed each year on the third Monday in January, Martin Luther King, Jr., Day is a federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King and improve their communities.

Youth Service America (YSA) is now accepting applications for two new grant programs to support MLK Day of Service (January 18, 2027) activities:

MLK Day of Service Lead Agency Grants: YSA, with funding from an AmeriCorps, will award grants of $1,000 – $10,000 to promote MLK Day of Service in their community and engage multiple sites and organize a single large or multiple smaller MLK Day service projects/events.

Youth At Every Decision-Making Table Grants: YSA, with funding from an AmeriCorps, will award grants of $2,000 to support development of new Youth Councils (or similar youth leadership structures) or expansion of existing ones.

Learn more and apply by October 25, 2026.
