Summer Part-Time Instructional Assistants assist lead teachers to facilitate classroom instruction for a Migrant Education Program school-based campus in South Philadelphia within the Migrant Education Program (MEP), Student Services Division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU). Instructional Assistants facilitate small group English language development, literacy, and math lessons that include project-based learning. Candidates must have a High School diploma or GED, basic computer knowledge, and Act 33 and 34 clearances and Federal Criminal History record. Candidates are preferred to have experience working with emerging multilingual school age students. Bilingual speakers of students’ home languages including Spanish, Khmer, Burmese, Karen, Q’eqchi’, Swahili, Arabic, Pashto, or Dari are preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementation of Migrant Education Summer Program instruction for preschool, elementary, and/or secondary migrant students in Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, and Bucks Counties.
- Work with migrant students one-on-one and in small groups to provide academic support in a classroom setting
- Assist with regular communication with Migrant Education Program staff and families
- Attend summer in-service, family meetings, and weekly staff meetings
- Support family involvement in the education of their children through translation/interpretation, information sharing, training, and referrals
