Virtual Voices: Deliberation Across the Nation – Nov 5&6
Posted by Stanford University on October 25, 2022
Are you interested in discussing polarization on college campuses and in US politics? Feeling like you’re stuck in an echo chamber concerning discussions of free speech on campuses, electoral reform, or social media?
Join a group of diverse students from all over the US for a facilitated online discussion on:
Electoral Reforms on Saturday, November 5 @ 11am-1:30pm Pacific Time, online
Social Media & Campus Expression on Sunday, November 6 @ 11am-1:30pm Pacific Time, online
These events will be structured similarly to a Deliberative Poll, a format that has been run in over 34 countries around the world to engage citizens on public policy issues. You do not need any prior knowledge of any of these topics to participate; you will be provided with brief learning materials in advance to contextualize the issues being discussed.
Outcomes of the events will be shared with Presidents of participating universities and colleges around the country, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
On October 24, 2022, an info session about the upcoming Deliberative Polls we are hosting for college and university students was held. Click here for the recording that describes the upcoming events.
