VIA Art Fund invites applications for its artistic production grants

Emphasizing direct engagement with contemporary visual art, VIA Art Fund supports projects that exemplify its core values of artistic production, thought leadership, and public engagement, VIA–by way of–Art.

To that end, VIA Art invites applications for the spring 2023 award cycle of its Artistic Production grant program. Artistic Production grants are awarded to individual artists, nonprofit organizations, and institutions to support new artistic commissions outside museum or gallery walls, within the public realm, or in non-traditional exhibition environments.

Artistic Production funding ranges from $25,000 to $100,000 (though it can be lower than $25,000) per project, with grants at the upper levels of funding reserved for permanent or long-term installations or newly commissioned works that may be gifted to a U.S. public collection. Grants are awarded to projects that best exemplify VIA Art’s three core values of artistic production, thought leadership, and public engagement. Individual artists or producing organizations seeking production funding must have a confirmed exhibition venue or presenting partner. VIA does not fund in-house museum or gallery exhibitions. Support is geared towards high-impact artistic commissions presented in non-traditional exhibition venues and those mounted in the public realm.

Eligible applicants include artists, nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, art production platforms, and biennials or festivals working in contemporary art in the United States and internationally. Organizations applying must provide proof of nonprofit status.

Letters of inquiry are due October 24, 2022, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal, due January 3, 2023.

For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the website.

Deadline: October 24, 2022 (Letters of Inquiry)
