Employer Recruitment Consultant

The Philadelphia Learning Collaborative (PLC) is looking for energetic, youth–driven, and passionate consultants to recruit employers who will commit to providing real–world learning opportunities (RWL) for high school students, during the school year. The role falls under PLC’s Real–World Connections activities and is the result of PLC securing funding to build and pilot the Workport@PLC, a sustainable system that will support real–world learning across a network of progressive high schools in Philadelphia.
The Employer Recruitment Consultant has a critical role in: 1) helping to build the Workport@PLC system, and 2) strengthening existing school–based real–world learning programs. PLC will equip the Consultant with descriptions of the school–based RWL programs participating in the pilot, one–pagers, an online portal for interested parties, and other necessary recruitment tools and materials.
The Consultant will:
- generate 100+ high interest, real–world learning opportunities for students by August 2022.
- verify employee partners viability by completing employer intake forms and securing written commitment to host students from authorizing supervisor
- support the process of collecting, analyzing & managing background check documentation (i.e., mentor profiles, etc.)
- attend weekly meetings with PLC Leadership
PLC will hire up to two (2) consultants.
Ideal Candidates:
- Is familiar with the Philadelphia schools and culture
- Is part relationship and consensus builder and salesperson
- Has workforce development or Real-World Learning Experience
- Works well independently and in small teams
- Is enthusiastic and comfortable presenting to individuals and groups of people at all levels management, including board members and high level executives
- Is highly organized and efficient
- Seeks clarity when needed to move the project forward
- Needs to be available to work during traditional business hours
About PLC
The Philadelphia Learning Collaborative (PLC) is a grassroots organization that launched in 2017 to address the common challenges that progressive schools in Philadelphia face. Our growing network of – K-12 schools (public, independent, and charter), schools of education at five of Philadelphia’s leading universities, The School District of Philadelphia, and several regional educational nonprofits – works together to build systems and structures that support existing and new schools with progressive education models in Philadelphia.
The student-centered school models in PLC’s membership feature personalized instruction, real-world learning, and school cultures that are shaped by restorative justice practices; as well as the guidance found in the Deeper Learning competencies and PLC’s Key Distinguishers. Collaborative members and leadership are nationally and internationally recognized forerunners in the field, with substantial experience and success in opening new schools for students from economically and racially diverse neighborhoods across Philadelphia.
PLC has three work priorities:
- Educator and Partner Development | Goal: Strengthen and widen the pipeline of teachers and leaders trained and prepared to work in PLC schools implementing Deeper Learning
- Real-World Connections | Goal: Consolidate, create, and share the resources PLC schools need to build strong partnerships with outside organizations
- Movement Building | Goal: Expand membership, improve member engagement, and share learning within the Collaborative and beyond.
Compensation: Up to $4K/month. Rate is based on experience and results.
