William Penn Foundation Invites Letters of Intent for Philadelphia’s Cultural Treasures Grant Program
The William Penn Foundation, in collaboration with the Barra, Neubauer Family, and Wyncote foundations and the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, is accepting applications for the Philadelphia’s Cultural Treasures program.
The regional component of the Ford Foundation’s America’s Cultural Treasures initiative, Philadelphia’s Cultural Treasures will support BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) cultural groups, artists, and organizations with exceptional significance to greater Philadelphia by providing substantial, multi-year support for these entities to weather the impacts of the pandemic and emerge stronger at its conclusion. A total of $10 million in grants will be awarded as part of local philanthropy’s commitment to supporting a racially, economically, and socially just COVID-19 recovery. In addition, the programs aim to create new opportunities for BIPOC artists, creatives, and culture-bearers and recognize their important and enduring contributions to Philadelphia and its residents.
Applicants must be tax exempt as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; be majority BIPOC-led; actively engage and serve BIPOC artists and audiences within the City of Philadelphia; be arts and/or culture organizations located in the City of Philadelphia; have been in operation for at least five years; and develop the work and practice of adult artists and culture-bearers (organizations with a primary mission to educate or train young people K-12 are not eligible).
Letters of Interest are due January 14, 2022, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by April 22, 2022.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the William Penn Foundation website.
Deadline: January 14, 2022 (Letters of Interest)
