The Free Library of Philadelphia’s Literacy Enrichment Afterschool Program (LEAP) is hiring Afterschool Leaders (ASLs) for 2021-22 . LEAP ASLs will work onsite to provide mentoring, technology support, and homework help for youth during the out-of-school time hours. Additionally, ASLs are expected to lead activities and programs that align with LEAP’s goal of supporting students with social emotional learning and wellness; literacy; and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math).
The position is part-time, seasonal temporary work, beginning in late August and running through May or early June as funding permits. Hiring will be ongoing until all positions are filled. The pay rate is $17.00 per hour, 20 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 2pm-6pm, and Fridays, 3pm-5pm; remaining hours will be for attending training or completing program statistics. Should the libraries be able to provide Saturday service, this schedule may be modified based on the needs of the community.
The LEAP ASL reports to the Library Supervisor and/or Children’s Librarian. The Out-of-School Time Program Manager will serve as a co-supervisor.
