Patrick J. McGovern Foundation Invites Applications for Accelerator Program Grants
The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation invites applications for its Accelerator Program Grants, a grant opportunity that provides nonprofits with data support, tools, and expertise to develop and test a data hypothesis.
The program aims to advance nonprofit data maturity while equipping nonprofit organizations with the tools and expertise they require to develop and test proof-of-concept data experiments. Accelerator nonprofits selected for these grants gain up to six months of experience using an advanced analytics “sandbox” that can handle large, complex datasets — foregoing the need for nonprofits to set up and invest in a test infrastructure before knowing if it’s a good fit for their teams. The theme for this year’s cohort is Data to Drive Climate Action, and nonprofits working across a range of climate change and environmental issues are invited to submit applications. Up to twelve climate action organizations will be selected for the next cohort, which runs for nine months in 2022.
Accelerator nonprofits demonstrate a commitment to shared learning — including documenting and setting an example for how others in their field can advance nonprofit data maturity in an impactful, responsible, inclusive way.
Nonprofits receive direct technical support from the foundation’s in-house Data and Society engineering team, access to an advanced data management platform, and up to $100,000 in supplementary support for expenses related to the data project.
Expressions of Interest are due August 31, 2021. Selected organizations will be asked to join a series of exploratory and technical project-scoping conversations before being invited to submit a formal proposal for consideration. Final decisions will be made in November 2021, with ten to twelve Accelerator projects launched in 2022.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation website.
Deadline: August 31, 2021 (Expression of Interest)
