ViiV Healthcare Issues RFP for Efforts to Advance Advocacy and Care of Women Impacted by HIV
ViiV Healthcare has issued a request for proposals for its Positive Action for Women (PAFW) initiative.
The initiative aims to support community collaborations that break down isolation and stigma, link women to prevention and care, and advance leadership and advocacy for cis and trans women of color living with, vulnerable to, or impacted by HIV. Applicants are encouraged to work in partnership, identify opportunities to expand their reach and networks, and forge collaborations critical to engaging more women. In addition, projects should reflect and respond to the unique and varied experiences of women of color. Organizations may apply for a three-year project grant, up to $100,000 per year, pending annual review and approval. From ten to twenty organizations will be awarded funding.
Project requests may be in one or more of the following focus areas:
Networks for Women and Organizations: This focus area is centered on breaking down isolation and stigma, sharing information, expanding social supports, and developing collaborations that engage more women in care. This includes support for virtual/hybrid/in-person events, safe spaces, and resources that create networks of support, engage women in healing, share information and bolster women of color’s confidence in advocating for themselves and others; and support for developing community-led coalitions, local action plans, and collaborations that boost women of color’s access to supportive services and affirming care, locally and nationally.
Expanding Linkage and Engagement: This focus area is centered on peer-led prevention and care outreach, navigation, and supportive services for women of color. This includes support for projects to convene, train and support peer and non-peer navigators, outreach leaders, and program leaders who serve women living with HIV; support for women-focused outreach, awareness campaigns and linkage efforts for HIV prevention; and support for partnerships between community-based organizations and clinical providers to address the prevention and care needs of women living with or vulnerable to HIV.
Fueling Advocacy: This focus area is centered on activating collaborations and leadership development efforts for women living with, vulnerable to, or impacted by HIV. This includes support for local and national advocacy that expands reproductive healthcare and rights for women living with HIV; support for holistic leadership development programs and curriculum that provide pathways for women of color to gain skills and experience for employment, advocacy, and grassroots movement building; support for arts and culture experiences for cis and trans women of color and/or their peers, allies, and families that create connections, break down stigma and raise awareness; and support for projects that develop city/county-level coalitions focused on women, working in conjunction with jurisdiction-wide efforts to end the HIV epidemic.
All applicants are encouraged to incorporate arts and cultural activities as part of their overall proposed project strategy.
To be eligible, applicants must be tax-exempt as designed by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and be located in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
